When Time Was Innocent

Some high notes live while others don't—

Where do they go?

This mountain top was of that note—

Sweet, bitter so—

The air is thin. It's hard to breathe—

It's time to take in everything—

Then time to go. Time picked up speed—

Is this the end of you and me?

Those summer days had promised new—

Your mountain peak was high in view—

The rise was steep with hope on deck—

But that’s when time was innocent—

That’s when time was innocent—

Where did you go? You left too soon—

Like summer trees neglect their bloom—

Done deal with; it can't be true—

You said I leave the rest to you—

Done deal with everything you?

But who's to fill your empty shoes?

Those summer days had promised new—

Your mountain peak was high in view—

The rise was steep with hope on deck—

But that’s when time was innocent—

That’s when time was innocent—

Death cannot part, I still believe—

Keep your eye out for me—

And I'll get to Heaven one day—

Too—

Where I'll be looking for you—

The air is thin. It’s hard to breathe—

It’s time to take down everything—

Keep believing,

–Josiah
